Passage between theses two cities have never been more affordable or enjoyably . We purchased one ticket from Virgin Trains which sufficed for both the rail and the sail portions of our journey , the cost was 39.00 Pounds one way. We purchased online and had it sent to family in London which was an additional one pound. If you want to get your ticket mailed to you outside of U.K. It will cost an additional 7.50 pounds. We started out on the early train from Euston station in London, embarked gracefully and found our assigned seat with ease . Luggage storage was plentiful with no additional cost for number of pieces or weight restrictions as is customary with airline travel throughout Europe. Try to get seats on the right side of the train when you purchase tickets as that's the most scenic side. Travelled through Crew,Chester and into North Wales where the highlight was Conway Castle , just beautiful . Passed by the wind turbines across the bay in Abergele, Colwyn Bay, crossed the Britannia Bridge into Anglesey and unto the station with the longest name in Britain if the the world ! Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyll-llantysiliogogogoch. Snowdonia Mountains can be seen in the distance before we arrive in Holyhead . There is a bus provided just off the platform which transported us to the 50,000 ton Ulysses. The voyage was comfortable with an dining area and bar for beverages, you could upgrade if you wish to a private cabin or the onboard club lounge which serves free alcohol and a light meal. We sat by the window in a very spacious area watching the gorgeous scenery . Arriving in the Dublin bay with The view of the Purple Mountains of Wicklow was spectacular even through the light drizzle that welcomed us to Ireland. The entire trip was approximately seven and one half hours which included train stops and customs clearance before boarding the ship. Well spent time for relaxation and cost effective too.
